April 23, 2022 | Machaven Historic Venue | Rocky Mount, NC

I usually like to keep my professional and my personal life pretty separate but on April 23, 2022, they collided. My mother-in-law Ellis passed away peacefully from a long battle with cancer, an hour before I was to start shooting for Gabrielle and Whit’s wedding in Rocky Mount. I switched gears quick because if it were me getting married, I’d want my photographer there, at least for a little bit, and I enjoyed every minute with these two beautiful and amazing people and their families. I left after formal portraits as my all star associate Rachael offered to take over for the rest of the night so I could go home and be with my family. It all worked out better than I could have imagined and am forever grateful for Gabrielle and Whit’s kindness and flexibility during this day. It was their day that they waited so long for and they still managed to think of others, which tells you a lot about their big hearts.

Their wedding was made possible by a dream team of vendors and I’m telling you… every single detail was mesmerizing. Will someone else get married there so we can do it again?
