Why did I update my website?

Even websites need TLC.

Hi!!!! My name is Helen Powell. It wasn't always obvious who I was through social media because I was Visuals By Helen for the first nine years in business. But now after this rebrand, I'm Visuals By Helen Powell. I know that doesn't seem like much, but adding my last name eliminates A LOT of confusion and humanizes that little blonde blob you see floating around in your social feed. Visuals By Helen Powell will continue to specialize in wedding photography, family portraits and small business graphic design + marketing for clients in Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina and beyond. That much is the same. This is just a fancy announcement about our new logo, new website and new business plan with our goals for the next nine years.

My instagram profile sums up my personality so people know exactly what they're getting in to: I'm a bubbly thirty-somethin' lady that overuses exclamation points so forgive me in advance for the amount of gleeful expression in the following text.

You may or may not know this fact already: Being a business owner is a very humbling, intense and rewarding experience. But being a business owner in a visual industry is also terrifying because staying relevant and current is a very real agenda that never ends. It is the reason I decided it was time to spend 60+ hours to redo my website + portfolio platform to celebrate my ninth year being in the business.

In the process of the redo, I've adored going through years of archives for personal retrospection and to pull some favorites for here of course! One thing is for certain that has not changed over the years is my style.

Not sure if you'd consider it a style, but my style is color.

Yup color.

In both my photography edits and in graphic design.

Color is a language without words.

So if you're looking for the light 'n airy photographer, I'm not it.

If you're looking for the dark 'n moody graphic designer, I'm not it either.

I'm just plain color, which is an oxymoron in itself, I know.

Because color is extraordinary and it's what makes you and me unique.

It is life's best friend.

That's why we blush when something makes us happy,

and color lights up our face.

That color is what I have been chasing for the last nine years and what I will continue to chase going forward.

With a family of my own now, (my husband and I have this gorgeous 11 month old that's pre-toddlering it realll hard), I am booking in advance, 2022-2023 weddings, Summer 2022 Beach Portraits and Fall 2022 Heirloom Portrait in Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach, NC.

Thank you for joining me on my journey this far. You have no idea how much it means to me to have your support (and your attention span for this long). My amazing team and I look forward to sharing more about us in the coming months and we are excited to serve you with the delicious Southern hospitality that you deserve.
